About The Position

Bankrate is seeking a dynamic leader to build the finance function for its next chapter. This is a senior finance role at a company undergoing transformation, with a 50-year-old brand, a strong EBITDA foundation, and an aggressive growth agenda. The Head of Finance will be the most senior finance leader within Bankrate, reporting directly to the COO and serving as the primary financial partner to the executive leadership team. This role is designed for growth in scope, complexity, and title for the right individual. The ideal candidate is a high-energy finance leader who has built teams, created processes from scratch, and thrives in high-stakes environments.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive finance experience.
  • At least 5+ years leading finance teams (ideally 5–10 staff, or more).
  • Exceptional communication skills: ability to hold sophisticated financial conversations with a CFO, break down complex forecasts for operators, and present to executive teams with clarity and confidence.
  • Proven track record as a builder: designed processes from scratch, developed and elevated team members, and created the infrastructure a growing business needs.
  • Deep FP&A expertise: financial modeling, variance analysis, forecasting, and business partnering.
  • Experience guiding a finance function through a significant corporate event (M&A, capital raise, sale process, or similar).
  • Experience overseeing or coordinating with accounting functions; financial literacy across all aspects of financial performance is essential.
  • Comfort operating in dynamic, high-growth, or PE-backed environments where priorities shift and resourcefulness matters.
  • High energy, low ego, and genuine enthusiasm for the growth opportunity this role represents.
  • Must be able to work Eastern Standard Time hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at or exposure to a digital media, marketplace, or fintech company.
  • CPA not required, but financial literacy across all aspects of financial performance — not just P&L — is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Financial Planning and Analysis, including financial planning, forecasting, and reporting, delivering clear, accurate, and timely insights to the COO, CEO, and executive leadership team.
  • Drive quarterly and annual forecast processes with a disciplined emphasis on variance analysis, business drivers, and forward-looking performance.
  • Partner directly with the parent company’s CFO and finance functions (Accounting and Procurement) as Bankrate’s primary financial point of contact, representing Bankrate’s financial story confidently and autonomously.
  • Build and Lead the FP&A team with a strong emphasis on mentorship, analytical rigor, and continuous process improvement.
  • Create the infrastructure, systems, and discipline needed for a best-in-class finance function, including documentation, automation, and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Expand finance function capabilities and capacity to meet evolving business ambitions and scope.
  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to the COO and leadership team on strategic decisions, including headcount, enterprise partnership economics, and long-range planning.
  • Translate financial data into crisp, confident narratives that drive decisions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Commercial, Marketing, and Product to embed financial intelligence into daily business operations.
  • Own OpEx management, including expense owner mapping, vendor and contract negotiations, and renewal oversight.
  • Identify and execute on cost savings opportunities, proactively surfacing risks and opportunities in the business’s financial trajectory.
  • Build modeling infrastructure to support new business lines, enterprise deals, and evolving revenue streams.
