About The Position

Lighthouse Software Group is looking for a Head of Finance to join the team. The Head of Finance will lead the Finance, Tax, and Treasury functions across the group. Supported by a team of Controllers and Finance Business Partners, they will be responsible for ensuring the timeliness, accuracy, and quality of the financial reporting, compliance and risk management for the group of Companies. They will play a key part in the M&A process and oversee the financial integration of newly acquired businesses. Additionally, they will be accountable for all audits and tax filings. Valsoft acquires and develops vertical market software companies, enabling each business to deliver the best mission-critical solutions for customers in their respective industries or niche. The successful candidate will work on-site from our Montreal office with some flexibility!

Requirements

  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
  • Skills in accounting, financial planning and analysis, tax and treasury with a proven track record of financial integration.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role, including at least 2+ years in team leadership.
  • Strong change management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and AI tools.
  • Being fluent in the English language, written and verbal, is essential.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the managing partner and investment partners to continuously optimize and grow the organization, intaking new businesses into the group.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Set targets for the finance team.
  • Monitor the financial health of the group; enhance and grow free cash flow.
  • Review monthly financial reports and KPIs; provide financial insights and prepare consolidated management reports.
  • Oversee complex accounting projects such as IFRS transition.
  • Oversee the development of financial budgets/forecasts and propose measures to optimize free cash flow and return on investment; forecast group outcome.
  • Monitor risks to budget and propose risk mitigation measures.
  • Responsible for the overall performance of the audits.
  • Responsible for the standardization, overall design and implementation of internal controls.
  • With the Investment Partners, responsible for the standardization and implementation of operational improvement measures.
  • Responsible for the tax compliance of the group companies; identify and lead tax optimization projects.
  • Actively participate in the M&A process.
  • Ensure financial integration of newly acquired companies.
  • Guide the integration in the ERP integration of the new entities, signing off on the final figures and post-integration procedures.
  • Ensure reporting quality and cadence meets standard guidelines.
  • Prepare acquisition accounting and ensure processes are in place to track earn-outs and other post-acquisition events.
  • Act as liaison to ensure adoption of Valsoft Guidelines and participate in the development of future guidelines.
