About The Position

About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Head of Equity Optimization to lead the Managed Solutions Portfolio Management function within the Wells Fargo Investment Institute (WFII), part of the Wealth & Investment Management (WIM) organization. This is a high visibility position ideal for a dynamic investment management leader with deep expertise in equity portfolio management, tax optimization, and investment governance, who can drive process innovation while developing high‑performing teams. In this role, you will: Lead and set strategic direction for the Wealth Investment Portfolio Management team, addressing complex investment, risk, and operational challenges Be empowered to work with WIM leaders on valued projects across WIM Product, National Sales, Client Relationship Group, Finance and Technology organizations Oversee equity portfolio construction, tax‑aware investment strategies, and optimization methodologies across managed solutions Develop, interpret, and govern investment policies, procedures, and risk frameworks aligned with regulatory and fiduciary standards Identify opportunities for process improvement, scalability, and risk control enhancements Manage and develop multiple teams of investment managers and senior professionals, ensuring delivery of moderate‑to‑high complexity investment solutions Review portfolio performance, mentor investment talent, and drive ongoing professional development Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, research, technology, sales, and distribution partners Identify opportunities and strategies for process improvement and risk control development Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in Wealth Investment Portfolio Management Foster a strong culture of talent development, accountability, and investment excellence

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Wealth Investment Portfolio Management or leadership experience or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience
  • FINRA Series 65 examinations (or FINRA recognized equivalent) must be completed within a 90 -day time period following commencement of employment if not immediately available to transfer upon hire.
  • FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.
  • Obtaining and/or maintaining appropriate Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) license(s) is required for ongoing employment in this position.
  • This position is subject to FINRA Background Screening Requirements, including successful completion and clearing of a background check.
  • Internal transfers are subject to comply with 17 CFR 240.17f-2 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and FINRA Bylaws, Article III, Section 3, which states that Associated Persons should not be subject to statutory disqualification.
  • Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and are required to report certain incidents.

  • Proven transformational leadership experience within an investment management or asset management organization
  • Demonstrated experience developing and promoting investment risk frameworks
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior-level investment leaders
  • Established ability to bridge communication and build effective partnership between product, research, and sales & support teams
  • Tax Optimization investment and leadership experience
  • Experience working with InvestCloud, BlackRock Aladdin, or similar technology
  • FINRA registration including Series 65 (or FINRA recognized equivalent)
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
