About The Position

The Enterprise Data Protection and Governance team is part of the Protect Pillar within Systems at BBH. The Protect Pillar is designed for clear, centralized, and coordinated accountability to protect against physical and logical security risks, safeguard stakeholder assets, and effectively detect, prepare for, and respond to security events. This role, reporting to the Head of the Protect Pillar, leads the Enterprise Data Protection and Data Governance team. The responsibilities include establishing and implementing the strategic direction of BBH’s data protection and governance program, overseeing enterprise-wide efforts in Data Loss Prevention, Data Destruction, Data Classification and Discovery, and Data Governance. The role also involves regular reporting on key metrics, risks, and program maturity to oversight committees, building and leading a high-performing team, coordinating responses to internal audits, and partnering with key stakeholders across various departments to achieve the Firm’s data protection and governance objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in data protection and information security, preferably within financial services
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing cross-functional global teams
  • Strong knowledge of DLP tools, data classification platforms and secure destruction standards
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy regulations and associated risks
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills

Responsibilities

  • Establishing and implementing the strategic direction of BBH’s data protection and governance program
  • Overseeing enterprise-wide efforts to protect data from leaving BBH in an unintended manner (Data Loss Prevention Program)
  • Overseeing enterprise-wide efforts to destroy data no longer required to be retained by law or for business purpose (Data Destruction Program)
  • Overseeing enterprise-wide efforts to enhance classification of data to further the efficacy of the Firm’s data loss prevention controls and destruction efforts (Data Classification and Discovery Program)
  • Overseeing enterprise-wide efforts to establish minimum firmwide standards for data integrity and availability and define key data management-related roles and responsibilities (Data Governance Program)
  • Reporting regularly on key metrics, risks and program maturity to oversight committees
  • Building and leading a high-performing team of professionals
  • Leading the coordination of, and responses to, internal audit reviews
  • Partnering with key stakeholders across the Protect Pillar, Systems, the business, Risk, OGC and Compliance to implement the Firm’s data protection and governance objectives
