Head of Engineering

AgencyAnalyticsToronto, ON
Hybrid

About The Position

At AgencyAnalytics, we empower marketing agencies with cutting-edge tools to streamline their reporting processes and elevate their client relationships. As a leading B2B SaaS company, we provide automated reporting software tailored to the unique needs of marketing professionals worldwide. We are looking for a Head of Engineering who gets things done. Not a whiteboard strategist - someone who digs into how our 40-person engineering organization actually works, finds what is slowing us down, and fixes it. You will partner with Product on how our teams are structured, how work flows, and how we hold ourselves accountable. You will report directly to our CEO and will be a key voice in how our engineering organization evolves. Our technical founders are deeply involved and move fast. You will partner closely with them, take the operational weight off their plates, and make the whole engine run better. If you thrive in a high-trust, high-ownership environment where you can make real structural decisions, this is the role for you. This role is hybrid, and we’re looking for someone who can come to our downtown Toronto office twice a week.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of engineering leadership experience, with direct experience managing teams of 30 or more engineers, including people leaders who report to you.
  • A track record of making engineering orgs run better, not just keeping the lights on, but finding what's broken and fixing it.
  • Structured teams and processes before in response to shifting business priorities, and you know how to bring people along through that change.
  • Know how to communicate the right thing to the right person. Whether you're in a 1:1 with an engineer, aligning with product leadership, or presenting to the executive team. You bring clarity without over-explaining and know when to listen.
  • Build trust quickly - with founders, with engineers, with product partners. People feel heard when they work with you.
  • A track record of creating real alignment between engineering and product - not just in theory, but in how teams actually work together day-to-day.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. You don't need everything figured out before you start moving, but you know how to bring clarity to others when they need it.
  • Understand how AI tools and workflows can make an engineering org more productive, and you've either already put that into practice or you're actively thinking about how to.
  • A strong command of engineering metrics and OKRs, and you know how to use data to have better conversations, not just to report on what happened.

Responsibilities

  • Champion an AI-first engineering culture. We want every engineer at AgencyAnalytics to be thinking about how AI can make them more effective, and we need a leader who drives that. That means embedding AI into how we build, how we work, and how we grow. You will identify the opportunities, set the tone, and make it part of how engineering operates day to day.
  • Engineering Operations: Own delivery cadences and the systems that help teams stay accountable and productive. Build the processes and metrics that give us visibility into how teams are performing without creating bureaucracy.
  • Role Clarity & People Leadership: Create the conditions in which people leaders and technical contributors can each thrive and do their best work, and remove ambiguity.
  • Product & Engineering Alignment: Build a strong working relationship with product leadership. Make sure engineering and product are genuinely in sync on priorities, timelines, and trade-offs, not just in theory but in how teams operate day to day.
  • Enable high-velocity product delivery. Enable autonomous, high-performing teams through strong Product and Engineering partnership, clear prioritization, and efficient execution.
  • Incident Management & Reliability: Own the processes for preventing and responding to outages. Drive a culture of blameless post-mortems and continuous improvement so we get more reliable over time.
  • Keep Tech Debt in Check: Manage the balance between shipping and codebase health. Build the process for identifying, prioritizing, and chipping away at tech debt and bugs before they become problems.
