About The Position

Evvy is a precision women’s health company leveraging the vaginal microbiome to improve outcomes across a woman's lifespan. Backed by $30M+ from leading investors, we serve over 100,000 patients and 2,000 providers nationwide with our validated Vaginal Microbiome Test and AI-powered personalized care platform. We’ve built the world’s largest dataset on the vaginal microbiome — a proprietary foundation that will drive breakthroughs in infertility, preterm birth, gynecological cancers, and beyond. This role is about using modern engineering and AI-native development to dramatically increase the speed, leverage, and ambition of what a small team can accomplish. As Head of Engineering, you’ll report directly to the CEO and lead Evvy’s technical vision, architecture, and execution as we scale. You’ll oversee the evolution of our platform across patient experiences, internal tooling, AI-powered workflows, clinical infrastructure, and data systems — helping ensure we move quickly without compromising quality, reliability, or trust. We’re looking for someone deeply hands-on and intensely product-minded. You should be excited about working directly in the weeds with the team: reviewing architecture decisions, unblocking engineers, experimenting with new tooling, prototyping systems, and helping the organization adopt the newest AI-enabled development workflows. You should have strong instincts for how modern engineering organizations operate in an AI-native world — where lean, highly-leveraged teams can execute roadmaps that previously required significantly larger organizations. Evvy is a primarily in-person team based in NYC. Given the cross-functional nature of this role, our ideal candidate is located in NYC.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering leadership roles
  • Experience leading engineering organizations through high-growth startup stages (Series B and beyond)
  • Experience building and scaling consumer-facing platforms, internal systems, or data-intensive products
  • Strong architectural instincts across modern web infrastructure and AI-enabled systems
  • Experience deploying modern AI tooling and workflows across software development processes
  • Experience hiring, mentoring, and managing engineers while remaining highly technical yourself
  • Familiarity with modern engineering stacks similar to Evvy’s (Python/Django, React, PostgreSQL, AWS, Snowflake, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthtech or other regulated industries
  • Experience productionizing ML/AI systems
  • Experience with HIPAA, security certifications, or privacy-sensitive infrastructure
  • Experience supporting diagnostics, ecommerce, or patient-facing healthcare platforms

  • Stay deeply hands-on with architecture, implementation details, debugging, and technical problem-solving
  • Establish best practices around architecture, code quality, security, scalability, and AI-assisted development workflows
  • Partner closely with ML and research teams to bring AI-powered systems and algorithms into production
  • Lead, mentor, and grow Evvy’s engineering organization
  • Build a culture of ownership, urgency, product thinking, and technical excellence
  • Create an engineering organization that embraces modern tooling, rapid iteration, and continuous learning
  • Balance short-term product velocity with thoughtful infrastructure investments and long-term maintainability
  • Partner closely with the CEO on hiring, org design, and long-term technical strategy
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Clinical, Operations, CX, Marketing, and Growth teams to build systems that solve real user problems
  • Ensure engineering decisions are grounded in user value, business impact, and operational scalability
  • Help shape roadmap prioritization, technical tradeoffs, and execution planning across the company
  • Serve as the voice of engineering across all levels of the organization
  • Own Evvy’s vision for platform security, privacy, and technical trust
  • Manage internal systems access and compliance processes related to sensitive healthcare and patient data
  • Evaluate new vendors, tools, and infrastructure through both technical and compliance lenses
  • Help ensure Evvy remains best-in-class in data privacy and responsible healthcare infrastructure
