About The Position

Stord is seeking an early leader to build a new business line focused on transforming its physical operational infrastructure into high-value training data for the next generation of physical AI. This role involves shaping the strategy, defining the operating model, and turning Stord’s physical network into a differentiated data asset for the future of AI. The position offers a rare opportunity to build a new AI business from the ground up, leveraging Stord's extensive fulfillment network, operational footprint, and resources. The Head of Embodied AI will have direct access to a rapidly growing buyer market, including robotics companies, AI labs, and physical AI teams, and will work closely with the CTO and Co-Founder. This is a true builder-operator role with end-to-end ownership of the early Embodied AI business, including product, customers, data capture program, data operations, team, and P&L.

Requirements

• End-to-end data operations experience, including building or operating a data operation or data product within robotics, AI, or a related technical environment.
• Understanding of the full data lifecycle: defining data collection, deploying capture hardware, annotation, quality control, and delivering production-ready datasets to ML teams.
• Technical depth sufficient to lead engineers and make sound architecture decisions.
• Proven ability to get complex initiatives across the finish line.
• Ability to evaluate pipeline design, understand computer vision and ML data formats, and communicate credibly with both engineers and customers.
• Commercial instinct, with experience selling data products to robotics or AI companies, or experience as an ML customer buying data.
• Ability to lead discovery, translate customer requirements into product specifications, and manage an opportunity from initial conversation through pilot and close.
• Exceptional operating range, comfortable moving between strategy and execution.
• Comfort working at the intersection of product, commercial, operations, and engineering.
• Deep understanding of the physical AI landscape, the needs of humanoid robotics companies and AI labs, and the role of real-world data in training vision-language-action models and deploying robots.
• Understanding of why egocentric demonstration data is a critical bottleneck to scaling embodied intelligence.

Responsibilities

• Win the first customers by leading customer discovery and closing initial pilots with humanoid robotics companies, AI labs, and physical AI companies.
• Engage directly with VPs of AI, Heads of Data, and technical leaders to understand their training requirements and translate those needs into products Stord can deliver.
• Define and build the product, owning the data product roadmap across quality tiers (e.g., RGB egocentric video, depth-enhanced, multimodal datasets with hand pose, annotations, and metadata).
• Prioritize product development based on customer demand and willingness to pay, while setting and maintaining a high bar for data quality.
• Build and run the capture operation, including camera and rig selection, participant enrollment, edge processing, data pipelines, and dataset packaging.
• Coordinate across warehouse operations, engineering, and customers to deliver datasets on spec and on schedule.
• Hire and lead a small, highly senior team, scaling it as the business grows.
• Set the technical direction and quality bar for the team, make architecture and tradeoff decisions, and ensure the team builds the right systems.
