About The Position

JBS Imports is seeking a seasoned, experienced professional to lead sales in our Imports division! The position will manage a team of sales staff across retail, food service, wholesale and manufacturing channels. As a member of the Senior Team, the position will have direct influence on P&L performance and achievement of Business Unit KPIs, targets and goals.

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience in purchasing and sales in the meat industry is required.
  • Red meat/beef sales experience at a senior or managerial level required.
  • Livestock and meat industry knowledge and experience gained in a foreign market - Australia, New Zealand, South America, Europe, strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of exporting / importing / logistics, for perishable commodities is required.
  • Strong knowledge of sales channels in North America.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Agriculture or Economics.
  • Strong work ethic - “go to” attitude and ability to work within a small team.
  • Ability to analyze markets via data and intuition.
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently create opportunities without direct supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to connect with multiple entities within the industry: suppliers, customers, traders / competitors.
  • Ability to travel about 15% of the time (domestic and international).
  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

Responsibilities

  • Proactively seek sales and trading opportunities for growing business and building relationships across the supply chain for imported meat categories
  • Direct strategy and provide direction to sales team with market information and strategy to achieve team goals
  • Monitor and set market pricing for both ‘buy' and ‘sell' trading functions
  • Development of suitable marketing strategies to support sales goals
  • Investigate all opportunities to grow sales including value adding using internal resources and third-party service suppliers
  • Position and inventory management
  • Direct supervision of sales and support staff
  • Direct logistics and administration staff to ensure customer expectations are met whilst maximizing efficiency for the business unit
  • Responsible for individual and team KPIs and category performance to budget.
  • Other duties as assigned
