About The Position

AngelList is seeking a Head of Data to leverage the company's extensive data as a strategic advantage. The role involves leading a small, senior team to tackle complex questions related to marketplace dynamics, customer LTV/CAC, attribution, and incrementality. The company has established a reliable data platform and is looking for someone to build upon this foundation with advanced analytics, experimentation, and trusted forecasting. This is a player-coach role requiring both strategic leadership and hands-on data analysis.

Requirements

8+ years in data science, decision science, or growth analytics, with hands-on practitioner experience.
At least 2 years of experience leading teams.
Deep expertise in attribution, causal inference, experimentation, LTV / CAC, segmentation, forecasting, and marketplace measurement.
Demonstrated success in these areas, not just aspirational.
Strong Python and SQL skills.
Experience building models and strong opinions on how to do so.
Track record of influencing executive decisions through analysis.
Exceptional written communication skills.
Maturity with platform layer, capable of making good architectural calls and respecting engineers' work.
Genuine appetite for a player-coach role, willing to write SQL.

Responsibilities

Own attribution, incrementality, LTV / CAC, customer segmentation, forecasting, and experimentation across business units.
Set and defend methodologies, improving them based on learnings.
Build the analytical view of how business units reinforce each other and identify investments to accelerate this flywheel.
Make running good experiments the default for product, marketing, and growth, supported by infrastructure and review processes.
Manage and grow a data team, initially composed of three individuals with expertise in data engineering and analytics.
Make architectural decisions for the data platform and ensure it scales with demands.
Partner with executives (CFO, CEO, GMs) on capital allocation and go-to-market decisions.
Personally contribute to the work and shape the direction of the team.
