About The Position

This role leads communications and external affairs across the Americas, balancing reputation, stakeholder engagement and policy influence in a complex, multi‑country environment. Building advocacy and social performance, ensuring Castrol’s positions and relationships are developed across key external audiences. Partnering closely with the Americas PU Lead, it sets direction, advises senior leaders and ensures consistent, effective positioning across internal and external audiences!

Requirements

  • Strong background in communications and external affairs, ideally across the Americas
  • Experience advising senior leaders on reputation, risk and stakeholder engagement
  • Clear understanding of policy, regulatory, geopolitical and cultural landscapes across the Americas
  • Proven crisis and issues management capability
  • Strong judgement, influencing skills and a concise communication style

Nice To Haves

  • Experience engaging with policymakers, regulators or industry associations
  • Exposure to energy, automotive, industrial or technology sectors
  • Spanish and/or Portuguese language capability
  • Experience working with regional media networks

Responsibilities

  • Set and deliver the Americas communications strategy aligned to business priorities
  • Advise senior leaders on messaging, positioning and visibility
  • Lead media engagement, thought leadership and reputation management
  • Align corporate and product narratives with marketing
  • Drive internal communications and employee engagement across markets
  • Support transformation and change through clear, targeted communication
  • Oversee content and channels, ensuring quality, consistency and compliance
  • Lead external affairs strategy linked to commercial and reputational priorities
  • Build and manage relationships with policymakers, regulators and industry bodies across the Americas
  • Support government engagement, ensuring alignment and consistency across markets
  • Identify, assess and manage policy, regulatory and societal risks
  • Shape advocacy positions and engagement on priority issues
  • Support licence‑to‑operate and social performance activity
  • Lead crisis communications and issues management across the Americas
  • Prepare leaders and coordinate clear, timely responses to emerging risks
  • Partner with senior leaders and country teams to align delivery
  • Balance regional consistency with local market nuance
