About The Position

Newmark Group, Inc. is a global leader in commercial real estate. The Head of Category Management will work with Facilities Management and Property Management leaders to build and improve Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, and Supplier Management activities for Newmark's Facilities & Project Management categories. This role involves strategy and program development, as well as execution. Initially, this will be a senior-level individual contributor role, with the expectation to hire, develop, and oversee a team of Category Managers over time. The role will also support business development efforts where supply chain management is applicable, requiring experience in preparing business development materials and presenting to all organizational levels. Collaboration with the Global Procurement Data & Analytics Lead and on-account procurement professionals is key for developing procurement best practices, policies, and procedures. A strong background in finance and data analysis is critical for success. The individual will be responsible for meeting procurement and business unit targets and goals, and will work with the Chief Procurement Officer to communicate results to executive teams. Close collaboration with business unit Account Managers, Property Managers, and Finance professionals is also expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 7 years in a Procurement Category Manager, Sourcing Manager or Center of Excellence role (Facilities related categories a plus).
  • At least 3 years working in a General Business Consulting or Supply Chain Management practice at a reputable consulting firm.
  • Proven experience in working with, presenting, and influencing all levels of the organization.
  • Understanding of procurement best practices, policies and procedures.
  • Analytical and Financial acumen.
  • Effective Communication (both verbal and written).
  • Creative problem solver.
  • Ability to make decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working for a top Commercial Real Estate Services firm a plus.
  • Experience as a consultant or in a corporate organization contributing to the development of a new function or product offering.
  • Professional certification e.g., CPSM, CIPS, C.P.M., PMP, or evidence of continued professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance a Preferred Supplier program for Facility and Project Management spend categories in partnership with the CPO and business unit Executives.
  • Conduct deep and thorough spend analyses in partnership with the Global Procurement Head of Data & Analytics to prioritize program goals and targets.
  • Develop a communication platform for program materials (e.g., SharePoint, Power BI, Newmark Intranet).
  • Aid business units in business development activities involving supply chain management.
  • Respond to RFPs, including performing complex analyses and preparing RFP materials.
  • Provide business units with spend and supplier information proactively and reactively.
  • Attend and present client presentations, articulating the value of Newmark's vision/roadmap and Preferred Supplier Program.
  • Collaborate with identified suppliers to align on shared goals and targets.
  • Implement Master Agreements with suppliers outlining negotiated commercial terms and SLAs where applicable.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to develop and execute roadmaps and plans at a client and/or local property level, partnering with on-account professionals for implementation.
  • Hold regularly scheduled Business Reviews with Preferred Suppliers.
  • Expand the Preferred Supplier program's depth within original in-scope spend categories (e.g., developing savings targets through RFPs, onboarding new suppliers).
  • Expand the categories and geography the program covers.
  • Hire, train, and develop Category Managers to support the expansion of the Preferred Supplier program.
  • Identify key suppliers per spend category using detailed spend analytics.
  • Build and manage diverse relationships.
  • Negotiate with suppliers.
