About The Position

NewYork-Presbyterian (NYP) Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a Head Occupational Therapist (OT) for their Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and Acute Care Services. This full-time, day shift position involves providing clinical and administrative supervision to Occupational Therapy services across the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and designated Acute Care programs, under the direction of the Manager of Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, and Licensed Creative Arts Therapy. The Head OT will oversee services for patients in Transplant, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), and Medicine units, focusing on high-quality, patient-centered care and staff development. The role also includes managing a partial caseload of patients. The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is a 5-bed CARF-accredited unit serving a diverse patient population with complex medical, neurological, orthopedic, transplant, and oncology-related needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• New York State Occupational Therapy License.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Minimum of five years of experience as a practicing Occupational Therapist with one year of experience in acute care.
• Demonstrates competency in clinical skills consistent with the level of education, training, and experience.
• Competency to care for patients based upon the age group treated.

Nice To Haves

• Master's or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.
• National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certification.
• AOTA Membership.

Responsibilities

• Providing clinical and administrative supervision to Occupational Therapy services across the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and designated Acute Care programs.
• Overseeing Occupational Therapy services supporting patients across Transplant, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), and Medicine units.
• Ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Supporting staff development and departmental initiatives.
• Evaluating and treating a partial caseload of patients.
