About The Position

The University of Wisconsin–Green Bay seeks a dynamic and mission-driven Head Nordic Ski Coach to lead a highly competitive men’s and women’s Nordic ski program with the ambition of becoming the premier program in the Central Collegiate Ski Association and advancing multiple student-athletes to NCAA Nationals each year. Building on UW-Green Bay’s significant financial investment—including scholarships, a full-time coach, and graduate assistant support—the Head Coach will recruit, develop, and retain high-performing student-athletes while delivering technical excellence, innovative training, and a culture that empowers success. This role advances UW-Green Bay’s mission to provide access to transformational education by fostering holistic student-athlete development, academic achievement, and competitive excellence—together, we rise. Aligned with UW-Green Bay’s strategic priorities and core values, the Head Nordic Ski Coach will advance fearlessly by embracing challenges and elevating program standards; build community through collaboration with student-athletes, alumni, and campus partners; and empower success by mentoring coaches, managing resources responsibly, and promoting academic and athletic achievement. The position also plays a key role in fundraising, alumni engagement, and public relations, generating pride and visibility for UW-Green Bay Athletics. Requirements

  • Display professional sportsmanlike conduct during athletic events.
  • Excellent judgment including sensitivity to personal and confidential information
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills working with a diverse community
  • Working knowledge of NCAA and Horizon League rules and regulations

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and utilize sound coaching methods aimed to improving the athletic performance of student-athletes
  • Generate and promote positive public relations and dynamic support for the Department of Athletics
  • Oversee conduct and performance of Nordic ski graduate assistant and support
  • Recruitment and retention of student-athletes through observation of ability and talent in accordance with the rules and regulations of the NCAA and UW-Green Bay
  • Oversight of the ski budget
  • Build alumni connections and engagement to generate financial support and interest
  • Plan and supervise in-season and out-of-season practice sessions, team and individual practices
  • Comply with all NCAA, UW System and UW-Green Bay rules and regulations
  • Monitor the academic performance of student-athletes to assure they meet performance standards of University and NCAA
  • Fundraise and participate in promotional and special events to promote the program and UWGB
