About The Position

Kent Place School seeks a Head Middle School Field Hockey Coach for the 2026-2027 season. The coaching hours are from 2:30-3:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, with potential for games to finish later and occur on Thursdays. The season runs from September 2nd to November 13th. The coach will be responsible for maintaining proper supervision of student-athletes at practices, games, and on school-provided transportation, promoting good public relations through professional conduct, modeling sports-like behavior, and adhering to best practices of diversity and inclusion.

Requirements

• Experience at the high school level required.
• Understand the fundamentals of field hockey.
• Have the ability to motivate players to reach their potential.
• Must have exceptional leadership skills.
• Must possess knowledge of rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong administrative skills.
• Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

• Prior coaching/playing experience at the collegiate level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper supervision of student-athletes at practices, games, and on school-provided transportation.
• Promote good public relations through professional standards of conduct and presentation and professional courtesy.
• Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
• Attend a mandatory preseason training session with the Athletic Dept.
• Participate in special activities.
• Complete all coaching accreditation modules and KPS training.
• Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Department.
