About The Position

North Park University, a member of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, is seeking applications for the position of Head Men’s Basketball Coach. This is a twelve-month, full-time role responsible for all facets of the intercollegiate basketball program, including recruitment, retention, coaching, scheduling, team travel, fundraising, and budgeting. North Park University, founded in 1891 and affiliated with the Evangelical Covenant Church, serves over 3,200 students. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Coaching experience and extensive knowledge of the sport of basketball at the intercollegiate level are required.
  • Applicants must be able to work an untraditional work schedule (i.e. frequent nights and weekends).
  • Able to lift and move athletic equipment.
  • Able to travel with team, by vehicle or plane.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Possess a clear understanding and personal commitment to North Park’s mission of Christian higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the men’s basketball program at North Park University.
  • Analyze performance and instruct athletes in basketball techniques and strategies in preparation for and during athletics competition.
  • Execute game and practice planning/evaluation, including video exchange and breakdown.
  • Provide on-site coaching in tournaments and practices, including organization and implementation of training schedules for all team members.
  • Manage all phases of competitive NCAA and CCIW compliant recruiting.
  • Ensure a commitment to the academic success of basketball student-athletes, including monitoring academic performance, attendance, and social behavior.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and the campus community.
  • Participate in fundraising and development events and be visible in the campus community.
  • Hire, supervise, develop, and evaluate part-time, volunteer, or graduate assistant coaches.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Athletics and Sport Management, and Associate and Assistant Athletic Directors.
