About The Position

Aligned with the Mission of Chestnut Hill College to provide a holistic educational experience, the Head Coach—working in conjunction with the Director of Athletics—is responsible for the planning, programming, directing, supervising, and implementation of all duties related to the assigned sport program. The Head Coach collaborates closely with all individuals involved in supporting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program and reports directly to the Director of Athletics. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Minimum of two years of coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
  • Demonstrated high moral character consistent with the Mission of Chestnut Hill College.
  • Strong knowledge of the assigned sport, including training and conditioning techniques, as well as the ability to assess player deficiencies and implement corrective strategies.
  • Strong communication skills with student-athletes and parents.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the College’s Mission and Core Values, including a shared dedication to inclusive, mission-driven education that supports the development of the whole person.
  • Maintain current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assign duties and responsibilities to assistant coach(es).
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of, and compliance with, all College, Department, CACC, and NCAA policies; ensure that this information is communicated to assistant coaches and student-athletes. This includes the annual completion of NCAA coaching modules.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Athletic Director on purchasing equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
  • Assist the Assistant Athletic Director with scheduling independent games.
  • Demonstrate respect for officials, opposing coaches, visiting teams, parents, fans, student-athletes, fellow coaches, faculty, and staff.
  • Attend all meetings required by the conference and the Director of Athletics.
  • Recruit and maintain contact with prospective student-athletes, working closely with the Admissions and Athletics Departments.
  • Perform additional duties related to the coaching position as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
  • Coordinate awards presentations for the annual awards program and ensure the involvement of the full coaching staff.
  • Prioritize student-athletes’ academic progress, demonstrating sensitivity to class schedules and examination periods when planning practices and competitions.
  • Provide leadership that promotes positive attitudes and good sportsmanship.
  • Work with student-athletes in a fair, understanding, patient, and supportive manner.
  • Inform all team members of applicable policies, procedures, and training rules.
  • Ensure appropriate conduct of student-athletes and all involved students at all times—including practices, games, travel, and interactions with other institutions.
  • Foster a sense of unity within the coaching staff and the Athletic Department.
  • Maintain current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
