About The Position

Pacific Coast Producers (PCP), a farmer-owned agricultural cooperative with food production and distribution facilities across the West Coast, is seeking an experienced, highly skilled Head Mechanic for our Woodland, CA Distribution Center. PCP invests in its people and fosters a culture of service, helping bring affordable, high-quality food to customers across North America. Our Woodland Distribution Center is a new 500,000 sq. ft. packaging, labeling, and distribution facility supporting retail and foodservice customers. With advanced technology and a strong commitment to quality and sustainability, the DC is a model for excellence in distribution and logistics. This role calls for a mechanic with a strong electrical background and expert industrial mechanical skills – someone equally comfortable troubleshooting PLCs, VFDs, and motor controls as diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical systems.

Requirements

  • Available to work first or second shift and weekends as needed; reliable with excellent attendance.
  • 5+ years of relevant industrial maintenance experience.
  • Strong electrical background with expert-level troubleshooting of PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, and industrial electrical systems.
  • Expert industrial mechanical skills, including hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, plumbing, and fabrication.
  • Working knowledge of vacuum systems, motion control systems, and HVAC systems.
  • Committed to safety and food safety, including proper use of PPE.
  • Must possess and use personal hand tools; certified to operate a forklift/industrial lift truck.
  • Ability to create and review machine drawings and schematics.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including email, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), such as Fiix, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Qualify as a journey-level Lead Mechanic (MII) or Mechanic – Class A (MIII).
  • Lead, mentor, train, and supervise mechanics; assign tasks, develop work schedules, and monitor performance and quality of work.
  • Perform and oversee preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on production and label-line equipment, including label machines, casers, and conveyors.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues by observing, testing, and measuring equipment; identify root cause and implement effective, timely repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC- and VFD-controlled equipment, motor controls, and other industrial electrical systems.
  • Read and work from blueprints, schematics, and operating instructions; create and review machine drawings.
  • Cut, form, and fabricate parts; assemble and repair machinery and equipment; locate, align, anchor, test, and time machinery.
  • Weld, including heliarc and stainless steel.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair logs, inventories, and equipment performance reports.
  • Order necessary parts, materials, tools, and supplies using established processes.
  • Communicate and coordinate with management and maintenance staff to align repair efforts with production goals.
  • Operate machines occasionally as needed; perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform facilities maintenance as needed, such as rollup door repairs.
