About The Position

This is a Part-Time, Regular position within the Recreation and Culture department. The role involves lifeguarding, instruction, and pool operation and maintenance duties. The schedule includes Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 10 am to 6 pm, Thursdays & Fridays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and alternating Saturdays with a minimum 4-hour shift. The schedule may be adjusted based on operational needs. The hourly rate is $39.28.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 Diploma or GED
  • National Lifeguard Award – Pool
  • Standard First Aid with CPR “C”
  • Lifesaving Instructor (LSI)
  • Aquafit Instructor
  • WHIMIS
  • Pool Operator II
  • Supervision Evaluation and Enhancement (SEE) Auditor
  • Aquatic Supervisor Trainer (AST)
  • Swim for Life Instructor Trainer
  • National Lifeguard Instructor
  • Sound knowledge and/or experience in lifeguarding/instruction duties and teaching methods/group leadership techniques with emphasis on water safety instruction and aquatic skills
  • Knowledge and/or experience in performing pool operation and maintenance
  • Sound knowledge of theory and practice, lifeguarding, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid
  • Working knowledge of Pool Chemistry
  • Ability to prepare facility related records and reports
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Initiative, sound judgement, positive and responsive when dealing with the public, user groups and staff
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Inquisitive and ability to ask questions
  • Effective listener
  • Criminal Record Check
