About The Position

Responsible for managing the Growing Department to ensure proper plant quality in a cost-efficient and environmentally sound manner while coordinating with Operations and other departments to meet the company’s strategic objectives. The Head Grower serves as the senior leader for crop performance, plant health, growing execution, and development of the growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure plant care, health, and overall crop readiness across all growing areas
  • Lead development, coaching, and performance of Growers and growing staff
  • Control department costs including chemicals, fertilizer, and supplies
  • Reduce plant shrink and production losses
  • Deliver consistent product quality aligned with company standards
  • Ensure the growing department contributes to company growth, profitability, and operational goals
  • Oversee daily crop care, maintenance, and readiness
  • Manage moisture levels, fertility balance, EC and pH performance
  • Set growth regulation strategies and environmental targets
  • Lead pest and disease control decisions (biological and chemical)
  • Maintain proper growing environments throughout the greenhouse
  • Monitor sowing, sticking, transplanting, and production schedules
  • Review historical and current readiness targets to maintain crop timing
  • Coordinate closely with Operations on production priorities and changes
  • Re-prioritize activities when conditions or schedules shift
  • Optimize greenhouse space utilization
  • Ensure crops are placed in appropriate environmental zones
  • Maintain organized, clean, production-ready growing areas
  • Maintain crop sheets and application records for each greenhouse bay
  • Track growing inputs and results for future planning and improvement
  • Use greenhouse systems and production data to guide decisions
