The Head Golf Course Equipment Mechanic oversees all equipment maintenance, repair, and operational readiness for the Agronomy Department. This role is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive Preventative Maintenance (PM) program, maintaining cutting units to factory specifications, and ensuring equipment consistently delivers high-quality performance. The Head Equipment Mechanic diagnoses and prioritizes repairs in coordination with the Golf Course Superintendent, manages maintenance budgets responsibly, and determines when replacement is more cost-effective than repair. Additionally, this role maintains appropriate inventory levels for essential parts, trains staff in proper equipment use, cleaning, and safety procedures, and supports agronomy operations as needed, including occasional weekend work. Strong daily communication with the Superintendent ensures alignment with course conditioning goals and operational priorities.
