Requirements

  • Fundamentals of Coaching or equivalent (must be completed one time)
  • Sports First Aid or Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries or equivalent (must be renewed once every two years)
  • Concussion in Sports – What You Need to Know (must be renewed on an annual basis)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in education preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising cheer team.
  • High school/college participation preferred.
  • Teaching assignment in building preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follows National Federation, SDHSAA, conference and ACCAA rules and regulations.
  • Explains and defines expectations of squad.
  • Supervises all practices and handles all discipline.
  • Organizes pep rallies with approval by Activities Principal.
  • Work with Activities Principal to make necessary travel plans.
  • Attend all games during fall/winter sports seasons that are played in the City of Sioux Falls, Brandon, and Harrisburg. No other out of town travel for regular season.
  • Travel with cheerleaders for post-season tournaments.
  • Manages budget to include Trust and Agency Fund.
  • Supervises all fund raising to supplement funds for travel, posters, and paint, camps, uniforms, supplies and meals.
  • Orders uniforms, shoes and other apparel.
  • Sets up and conducts tryouts to include hiring of competent judges.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by administration.
