Head Frosh/Soph Boys Basketball Coach
About The Position
Lake Forest High School is seeking a Head Frosh/Soph Boys Basketball Coach. Under the direction of the Varsity Head Coach, the coach will assist in organizing, coordinating, and promoting quality coaching in alignment with the LFHS mission and Athletic Department philosophy. The coach will provide effective instruction and assist with program management, support a positive learning environment for student-athletes, and prioritize educational-based athletics. The role oversees and manages boys participating at the freshman/sophomore level, including practice and game planning. The coach is expected to demonstrate strong ethics, professionalism, and serve as a positive role model.
Requirements
- For an IHSA sport, hold a current Illinois Teaching Certificate registered in Lake County, an ASEP certificate, or have completed an approved NFHS coaching certification program.
- Maintain current AED/CPR certification.
- Meet all annual IHSA coaching certification requirements.
- Demonstrate effective communication, professionalism, and sound decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Varsity Head Coach in organizing, coordinating, and promoting quality coaching.
- Provide effective instruction and assist with program management.
- Create and support a positive learning environment for student-athletes.
- Emphasize educational-based athletics as a top priority.
- Supervise, oversee, and manage boys participating at the freshman/sophomore level.
- Plan practices and games.
- Demonstrate ethics, professionalism, and positive role modeling.
- Make sound decisions under stressful conditions.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents, staff, and students.
- Communicate and enforce expectations for athlete conduct and accountability.
- Actively supervise student-athletes during team events and transit to help maintain a safe and respectful environment.
- Follow school policies, district regulations, and the LFHS Athletic Code of Conduct.
