The Head Debate Coach will have full responsibility and leadership for the overall supervision of the Speech and Debate program at all levels. This includes ensuring student clearance, managing assistant coaches, organizing the program to align with district and high school philosophy, and submitting an annual program evaluation. The coach is responsible for building good sportsmanship and public relations, scheduling and supervising practices, and ensuring adherence to all relevant rules and policies. Additionally, the coach will communicate with the public regarding the sport, stay current with new knowledge and techniques, and ensure all safety procedures are followed. A current First Aid and CPR card is required, along with responsibility for athlete welfare. A clear process for team member selection must be communicated, and other assigned responsibilities will be undertaken. Essential functions include instructing students in sport fundamentals, maintaining facilities and equipment, supervising team players during practice, contests, locker room, and travel, and promoting sportsmanship and fair play through exemplary behavior and instruction. The coach will attend all required meetings and submit a sport budget. The ideal candidate will be motivating, inspiring, communicative, and organized.
