About The Position

Responsible for custodial staff supervision and the overall cleanliness, sanitation, security, safety and maintenance of the assigned facilities, buildings, grounds and equipment. Employee oversees supply and equipment inventories, facility rentals, and HVAC systems within the school facility.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of supervisory experience in cleaning and custodial work.
  • Experience in snow removal, to include the operation of snow removal equipment.
  • Valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day and evening custodians.
  • Oversee supply and equipment inventories.
  • Manage facility rentals.
  • Oversee HVAC systems within the school facility.
  • Ensure employee coverage is scheduled and coordinated for events outside normal business hours.
  • Ensure safety and functionality of the cafeteria prior to use by setting up tables, chairs and trash receptacles.
  • Perform cafeteria checks throughout the lunch period to remove trash, sweep and/or mop up spills.
  • Clean the cafeteria following the lunch period by removing trash; breaking down tables and chairs; sweeping and scrubbing floors; and cleaning counters, sinks, walls and windows within the cafeteria.
  • Perform cleaning and monitor the restrooms throughout the day to ensure health and safety standards are upheld.
  • Follow Universal Precautions and sanitation procedures when handling the cleanup of bodily fluid spills.
  • Unclog plumbing and waste traps as needed.
  • Prepare for meetings and events as assigned, coordinating with administrative staff to determine proper furniture arrangement, technical equipment required, or other needs required.
  • Prepare room setups for graduations, town elections, school committee meetings, and other various events.
  • Open and close buildings, ensure the security of buildings, close and lock windows and doors, set security alarms, and turn off lights.
  • Remove snow, ice, leaves, dirt and debris from walkways and stairs to maintain safe entry into town buildings for visitors.
  • Maintain school grounds and courtyards by keeping the grass mowed, shrubs trimmed and the property free of litter.
  • Report to work before, during, and after serious inclement weather.
  • Submit School Dude requests for location when in need of supplies.
  • Attend job training, as required by state laws and regulations.
  • Change light bulbs as required.
  • Paint throughout school buildings and properties, as assigned.
  • Stock and deliver paper supplies to offices.
  • Strip, seal, buff, and wax floors within school buildings.
  • Raise and lower flags at school buildings for half-mast notifications.
  • Assist departments with moving files and boxes.
  • Assist in regulating heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures for the season.
  • Conserve energy whenever possible, to include electricity, water, and fuel consumption.
  • Report all required maintenance repairs to the department head through the use of SchoolDude software or contact their immediate supervisor directly if it’s an emergency.
  • Perform other duties, as required to meet the needs of the school district.
