About The Position

The YMCA of Greater Erie is looking to hire a part-time Head Cook for our meals program at YMCA of Greater Erie. This position pays $11.38 - $14.23 / hour. As a Head Cook, you will be responsible for the supervision and preparation of all meals, maintaining quality foods and comply with all federal CACFP regulations and recordkeeping. Always conscientious, you provide proper sanitation and housekeeping in your designated work areas. You are careful to follow food safety procedures at all times! You are friendly and patient as you assist community members with the distribution and/or new enrollment of participants into the YMCA Food Program. As a key liaison between the community and the YMCA, you keep this good rapport going as you communicate with participants in the program with a friendly and welcoming attitude.

Requirements

Minimum of two years' experience as a cook
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Act 33, Act 34 and FBI clearances to comply the Child Protective Services Act
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
Basic understanding of meal preparation and food sanitation protocols
Patient and able to remain calm when stressed
Enjoy interacting with a diverse population

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED, preferred
People person who especially enjoys working with food
Passionate about the community and helping others
Enjoy working with food in a kitchen environment
