Requirements

Submit an application for an Athletic Coaching Certification with the Florida Department of Education.
Apply to become an Athletic Coach through the district's website.
Complete orientation appointment scheduled by Human Resources after offer of employment is extended and accepted.
Complete fingerprinting/workplace screening ($118.00 fee).
Obtain either a Three-Year or Five-Year Florida Athletic Coaching Certificate if not holding a valid Florida Educator's Certificate.
For a Five-year certificate: Submit application and $75.00 fee to Florida Department of Education.
For a Five-year certificate: Meet specialization requirements for the Athletic Coaching Endorsement.
For a Five-year certificate: Complete three (3) semester hours in Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries and the effects and dangers of drug use, including performance-enhancing drugs.
For a Five-year certificate: Complete three (3) semester hours in coaching theory.
For a Five-year certificate: Complete three (3) semester hours in theory and practice of coaching a specific sport.
For a Five-year certificate: Possess a valid CPR certificate from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
For a Five-year certificate: Possess First Aid certification, including training in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
For a Five-year certificate: Have been approved for employment and completed fingerprinting (FDLE/FBI), with results no older than one year.
