About The Position

The Rivers School, a 6-12 co-ed independent day school in Weston, MA, is seeking professionals to join its dynamic, innovative, and welcoming school community. This is a permanent part-time junior varsity coaching position that runs from the second week of September 2026 to the third weekend in November 2026. The school is looking for individuals who can contribute to the evolving needs of the institution, with the potential to contribute to other aspects of the school's academic, co-curricular, and administrative functions being a part of the candidate evaluation. The Rivers athletics program is an extension of the institutional mission and values, 'Excellence with Humanity,' believing that interscholastic athletics significantly enhances the high school educational experience by complementing the school’s values, strengthening the mind/body connection, promoting healthy habits, creating social interaction opportunities, and providing avenues for student excellence and growth. Candidates must be committed to professional development and personal growth as a coach, and possess the ability and desire to collaborate effectively with colleagues to support the school’s mission and team goals. Requirements

  • Extensive understanding of the strategic and tactical aspects of Volleyball.
  • Experience in Volleyball as a competitor or coach.
  • Passion for helping teams and players reach their full potential on and off the court.
  • Capacity to model good behavior and interact respectfully with student-athletes, staff, officials, parents and caregivers.
  • Ability to positively motivate, inspire, and be a role model to students, on and off the court.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a team van to opposing games.
  • Commitment to professional development and personal growth as a coach.
  • Ability and desire to collaborate effectively with colleagues in the athletic department and across campus.
  • A team-first attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a Monday-to-Saturday practice/game schedule, including travel to away opponents.
  • Organize and conduct carefully planned practices that foster development, preparation, and fellowship.
