About The Position

Lynn Public Schools is seeking a Head Coach for Girls Varsity Softball. Requirements

  • CPR and First Aid instructor experience required.
  • Successful completion of MIAA coach’s course.
  • Knowledge of care, use and selection of equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of three (3) years successful experience as a head coach of softball in college or high school OR at least five (5) years of successful experience as an assistant softball coach in college or high school is preferred.
  • Evidence of having participated in a varsity softball program in high school, college, or any other higher level of education.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor academic climate of all players; check grades and credits regarding eligibility and quarterly progress during the school year.
  • Maintain discipline among teammates.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct for Coaches established by the Lynn School Committee.
  • Work closely with guidance department regarding colleges that are of interest to team members.
  • Establish relationships with college coaches and preparatory school representatives.
  • Responsible for organizational matters for the softball program, such as maintaining close communications with the Director, community involvement with boosters or varsity clubs, for example, meeting with parents and alumni, etc.
  • Evaluate assistant coaches on a seasonal basis and report findings to the Director.
  • Recommend selection of assistant coaches to the Director for final confirmation by the Superintendent, based on a posting, screening, interviewing and selection process.
  • Attend clinics, conferences and other meetings on a state and league level.
  • Participate in the Greater Boston League.
  • Stay informed about changes in rules and regulations in MIAA and GBL.
  • Complete periodic inventory of all useable softball equipment.
  • Prepare annual budget report for equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Administer injury claim forms and follow up on progress of all injured players.
  • Confer with the Director on schedules for non-league games and pre-season scrimmages.
  • Responsible for school facilities including locker rooms and field houses.
  • Check all areas (game facilities) after everyone else has left premises.
