About The Position

This position is for a Head Coach - Cross Country at Copperwood Elementary in Glendale, AZ. The role involves coaching student athletes, managing team activities, and ensuring adherence to school district and AIA rules. The coach will be responsible for developing team camaraderie through various activities and may be required to travel for competitions.

Requirements

Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Fundamentals of Coaching" course, or approved equivalent (AIA Rule 17.1).
Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Concussion in Sports ï¿½ What You Need to Know" course (AIA Rule 17.1).
An Arizona Teaching Certificate OR an Arizona Coaching Certificate OR a certificate verifying completion sport specific course (AIA Rule 17.1.2).
Current Certification in CPR and First Aid.
Knowledge of essential skills, techniques, rules and safety concerns for the sport to be coached.
Skill in communicating with all stakeholders.
Knowledge necessary to adhere to rules set out by AIA ( www.aiaonline.org ) and Peoria Unified School District #11.
Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Must be able to pass a background clearance check.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver's license as driving students to and from competitions may be required.

Responsibilities

Coach student athletes in the sport of Cross Country.
Develop team camaraderie through teambuilding, fundraising, and service projects.
Adhere to rules set out by AIA and Peoria Unified School District #11.
Attend mandatory school district and AIA meetings.
Utilize online platforms required for specific sports like MaxPreps, HUDL, and others.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
Ensure safety concerns for the sport are addressed.
