About The Position

The Head Coach (Boys Bowling) is responsible for helping each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem. This role involves coaching individual participants, planning and scheduling practices, and working with the athletics director on scheduling contests. The coach also recommends equipment purchases, maintains records, ensures facility safety, establishes performance criteria, enforces sportsmanlike behavior, and supervises assistant coaches.

Requirements

  • Experience in coaching or playing bowling.
  • Knowledge of the rules and strategies of bowling.
  • Ability to teach and motivate student-athletes.
  • Understanding of sportsmanship and discipline.
  • Ability to maintain records and paperwork.
  • Ability to ensure a safe playing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous head coaching experience.
  • Experience supervising assistant coaches.

Responsibilities

  • Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
  • Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
  • Works closely with the athletics director in scheduling interscholastic contests.
  • Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
  • Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
  • Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
  • Establishes performance criteria for his sport.
  • Enforces disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
  • Supervises assistant coaches in his sport.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
