About The Position

The Head Coach for 8th Grade Volleyball at Mills Middle School guides student athletes and teaches them the correct way to play volleyball. The coach studies the rules, techniques, and technical aspects of the game; formulates training plans; and considers athletes’ performance, nutrition, and educational performance at school. The role also includes mentoring young students and, for some athletes, supervising their transition to the next level. The position works under the direction of the school principal or designee. Candidates must successfully complete an interview and reference check(s).

Requirements

• At least three years of relevant school-level sport coaching experience or college-level coaching experience.
• Ability to communicate with middle school-level students.
• Ability to teach skills and drills at the designated school level.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Successful interview and reference check(s).
• Submit a letter of introduction identifying the position applied for, a sample practice plan, at least three current letters of recommendation (including one from the most recent supervisor), and a resume listing all coaching experience.
• Upon conditional offer, complete DOJ and FBI criminal background checks and a TB test dated within the last 60 days.
• Complete district Mandated Reporter training.
• Obtain and maintain an in-person First Aid/CPR certificate.
• Complete Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Concussion in Sports, and Heat Illness Prevention requirements before coaching begins.
