About The Position

North Park University is accepting applications for the part-time position of Head Cheerleading Coach, which directs all aspects of the cheerleading program and begins on August 15, 2026. The role includes a $5,000 stipend paid over the academic year. North Park University, founded in 1891, is a Christian university affiliated with the Evangelical Covenant Church, serving over 3,200 students. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Coaching experience and knowledge of the sport of cheerleading are required.
  • Applicants must be able to work an untraditional work schedule (i.e. frequent nights and weekends).
  • Able to lift and move athletic equipment.
  • Able to travel with team, by vehicle or plane.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Possess a clear understanding and personal commitment to North Park’s mission of Christian higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the cheerleading program at North Park University.
  • Provide on-site coaching including the organization and implementation of training schedules for team members.
  • Maintain a safe practice and performance environment, including appropriate spotting and skill instruction.
  • Analyze performance and instruct team members in events and techniques in preparation for and during scheduled events.
  • Oversee recruitment activities and communications to prospective cheerleaders.
  • Ensure a commitment to the academic success of team members, including monitoring academic performance, attendance, and social behavior.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and the campus community.
  • Participate in fundraising and development events and be visible in the campus community.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Athletics and the Director of Wellness and Recreation.
