The Head Cashier provides SMART customer service at all times through the daily execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures, and programs. This role involves actively seeking out customers to understand their needs and assisting them in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise. The Head Cashier listens to and responds knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions, guiding them to the correct areas of the store and walking them through projects when necessary. They communicate information about stock, special orders, feature benefits, applications, and warranty information related to Lowe’s programs. Additionally, this role involves coaching, developing, providing feedback, and training associates in departmental duties or sales opportunities. The Head Cashier uses a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds according to company guidelines, and provides proper monetary change to CSA Front End associates. They remove security tags, verify product information, and bag merchandise for customers. To ensure efficient customer flow, the Head Cashier assists in line management, opening additional registers when necessary. They prepare the register area at the beginning and end of shifts by confirming functionality of registers and scanners and stocking supplies. Responsibilities also include inspecting returned merchandise for damages, entering and submitting customer orders, printing order tickets, verifying receipts, and signing off on loading tickets. The Head Cashier looks up product information and competitor prices for price matching, records store use items, and completes cash counting and daily reconciliation duties. They monitor cash in drawer and cash recycler levels, and observe merchandise entering and leaving store entrances and exits, assisting with alarms. The role involves detecting signs of shoplifting, theft, and security risks, and communicating them to management. The Head Cashier ensures compliance with housekeeping standards for cleanliness and organization, and maintains a safe and secure work environment by conducting safety reviews, noting hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors and gates. They adhere to all safety requirements relevant to their job duties and operate store equipment as needed.
