About The Position

This is a full-time Head Cashier position. The role involves expanding career possibilities and offers opportunities to learn and grow within Lowe's. The Head Cashier will be responsible for various essential functions related to customer service, cash handling, store operations, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology, such as smartphones and tablets.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Must be able to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs, including credit cards, installations, add-on sales, protection plans, and explaining warranties, product features, and benefits.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field, including directing, delegating, evaluating, training, and coaching employees.
  • Less than a year of retail experience detecting common signs of shoplifting (e.g., merchandise hidden inside of containers, merchandise under carts, price labels switched).

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and identify customers needing assistance at self-checkout registers.
  • Proactively recommend products and services to customers.
  • Greet, assist, and engage with multiple customers simultaneously.
  • Move throughout the checkout area, standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and moving product to ensure accurate transaction completion.
  • Thank customers and invite them back.
  • Provide SMART customer service according to Lowe's policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise.
  • Respond knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions, guiding them through projects when necessary.
  • Demonstrate sincere appreciation to customers.
  • Communicate product information, feature benefits, application, and warranty information.
  • Coach, develop, provide feedback, and train associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities.
  • Use a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds.
  • Provide proper monetary change for register activities.
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and support to the CSA Front End Team.
  • Remove security tags, verify product information, and bag merchandise.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, direct calls, or take messages.
  • Open additional registers as needed to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Assist in line vesting to improve checkout turnaround time.
  • Prepare the register area at the beginning and end of shift by confirming register and scanner functionality and stocking supplies.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages.
  • Enter and submit customer orders, print order tickets, verify receipts, and sign off on loading tickets.
  • Review and place online orders and returned merchandise in appropriate areas.
  • Look up product information and competitor prices for price matching.
  • Record all items used in the store on store use lists.
  • Obtain safety bags from the cash office and monitor cash in drawers.
  • Monitor merchandise entering and leaving store entrances/exits and assist with alarms.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting, theft, and security risks and communicate them to management/Asset Protection.
  • Ensure compliance with housekeeping standards for cleanliness and organization.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment, including daily safety reviews, noting hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors/gates.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements relevant to job duties.
  • Operate store equipment as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
