About The Position

The Head Cafeteria Worker at Pine Ridge Middle School is responsible for managing the cafeteria operations under the supervision of the school principal. This position involves food preparation, presentation, and service to students and staff, as well as managing inventory, ordering supplies, and handling daily deposits and sales reports. The role also includes kitchen duties and a willingness to participate in school recycling programs and work within a school environment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of and a willingness to build healthy menus and snacks on sound nutritional principles.
  • Current Food Handlers certificate.
  • Experience in the area of food preparation, presentation, and service to students and staff.
  • Confirmation of your educational qualifications must be included with your application.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a school at the p to 8 level is preferable.
  • Previous experience in a school cafeteria will be an asset.
  • An educational background in the nutritional studies would be and asset.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the cafeteria under the supervision of the school principal.
  • Current Food Handlers certificate.
  • Experience in the area of food preparation, presentation, and service to students and staff.
  • A willingness to consult and collaborate regarding cafeteria business plan, weekly menu and pricing.
  • Ordering food items and relevant supplies.
  • Keeping an inventory on a frequent basis, of all foods and supplies.
  • Daily deposits.
  • Cash reconciliation and sales reports.
  • Preparation and serving of food, kitchen duties as required in co-ordination with the cafeteria team (stocking, cleaning, dishes, etc.).
  • A willingness to be engaged in the school recycling program.
  • An interest in working in a school environment.

  • Rate of Pay: As per Collective Agreement ($22.66)
  • Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Collective Agreement Local 3876.
