About The Position

The Head Building Custodian is responsible for overseeing and supervising custodial staff in cleaning and maintaining the Nashoba Regional High School building. This role also involves assisting with routine manual cleaning tasks. The position reports directly to the Building Principal and Director of Facilities.

Requirements

Custodial experience and knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
Skill in the use of small equipment used in routine cleaning.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to assist in the protection of students and school property.
Ability to assist the principal in fire and other emergency drills as required by law and School Committee policy.
Ability to walk and stand on tile flooring for up to 1-2 miles per day.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to move furniture weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend and twist regularly at the waist, knees, and neck.

Responsibilities

Supervises custodial staff responsible for cleaning and maintaining the school.
Oversees and manages the cleaning needs of the building in coordination with the Principal and Director of Facilities.
Responsible for weekly timesheets to payroll.
Responsible for assisting with mail delivery to the central office.
Reports building damage and/or needed repairs to the Facilities Director and Principal.
Checks heating and air conditioning equipment for proper working order and reports any failures.
Works directly with outside rental groups.
Performs minor repairs under the direction of the Facilities Director and/or Principal.
Assists with scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing, and polishing floors, rooms, hallways, and closets.
Dusts and arranges furniture.
Washes windows, woodwork, walls, and other surfaces.
Scrubs and cleans restroom fixtures.
Replenishes tissue, towels, and soap in restrooms, kitchens, and classroom facilities.
Empties wastebaskets and other trash receptacles.
Locks and unlocks doors.
Sorts and stores materials for recycling programs.
Picks up paper and other trash in buildings and/or on school grounds.
Performs other duties as assigned.
