About The Position

The Head Beach Volleyball Coach is responsible for the overall leadership, development, and administration of the intercollegiate beach volleyball program. This position will organize, direct, and promote all aspects of the program in alignment with institutional goals and in compliance with NCAA Division II and Lone Star Conference rules. The head coach serves as a leader within the athletics department and is expected to foster a culture of competitive excellence, academic success, and student-athlete development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Collegiate or high-level club coaching experience in beach volleyball (or indoor with beach background)
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Working in all weather conditions, exposure to high noise levels, standing throughout the day, the ability to use a loud voice at practices and events and physical involvement in all practices and workouts with players.
  • Must have a State of Texas or Arkansas class "C" vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Acceptable driving record and periodic completion of van safety course
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours, including holidays and weekends.
  • This position may be required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, in accordance with System policy and is further required to complete FERPA and HIPAA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable timeframe after employment and on an as-needed basis thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and conduct all practices, competitions, and training sessions
  • Develop and implement competitive strategies and player development plans
  • Evaluate individual and team performance using film, analytics, and on-court instruction
  • Establish and maintain a positive team culture focused on accountability and growth
  • Oversee strength & conditioning collaboration specific to beach volleyball
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit qualified student-athletes
  • Manage roster size, scholarships (if applicable), and retention strategies
  • Build and maintain relationships with club, high school, and junior programs
  • Ensure recruiting practices comply with NCAA Division II requirements
  • Promote academic success, retention, and graduation of student-athletes
  • Monitor academic progress in collaboration with academic services staff
  • Mentor student-athletes in leadership, life skills, and personal development
  • Address disciplinary and team-related issues appropriately
  • Ensure full compliance with NCAA, Lone Star Conference, and institutional policies
  • Manage program budget, including travel, equipment, and recruiting expenses
  • Coordinate team travel, scheduling, and match operations
  • Maintain equipment, facilities (sand courts), and inventory
  • Promote the program through community engagement, camps, and clinics
  • Assist with fundraising initiatives and donor relations
  • Assist in transportation of athletes to/from athletic events, which may include driving a full-sized passenger can or other large capacity vehicles.
