About The Position

The Varsity Head Basketball Coach leads Covenant Christian Academy’s basketball program with an athlete-focused, Christ-honoring approach that develops disciplined, unified competitors. This leader sets the vision, culture, and standards for program stewardship while building and leading a cohesive coaching staff committed to competitive excellence, quality teaching, and the holistic development of all student-athletes in the program from middle school to varsity level competition. The Head Coach partners closely with the Athletic Department, school leadership, and families to align the program with CCA’s mission and to pursue sustained competitive success through the formation of character, teamwork, and accountability.

Requirements

Mature, growing personal faith in Jesus Christ aligned with CCA’s Statement of Faith.
Proven commitment to Christian education and Christ-centered leadership.
Significant basketball playing and/or coaching experience required; head coaching experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to lead staff, build culture, and develop athletes.
Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and relational skills.
High character, professionalism, and accountability.
Ability to manage program-wide responsibilities with excellence and consistency.
Willingness to complete all TAPPS and school compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

Set and lead the vision, standards, and culture for the entire basketball program, ensuring alignment from middle school through varsity.
Deliver a Christ-centered, fundamentally sound program that develops disciplined, unified competitors who play hard, play smart, and play together.
Lead all varsity basketball operations including game scheduling, practice planning, skill development, game preparation, strategy, and in-game leadership.
Build and sustain a vertically aligned program by mentoring middle school coaches and establishing clear systems for player development and progression.
Recruit, develop, and evaluate coaching staff who teach the game well, model strong character, and contribute positively to program culture.
Design and oversee year-round player development, including off-season training, skill work, and strength and conditioning in partnership with the Athletic Department.
Cultivate strong relationships with student-athletes and families that promote trust, accountability, and growth.
Model and reinforce Christ-centered character, leadership, discipline, and sportsmanship in all aspects of the program.
Steward program operations responsibly, including equipment, facilities, communication, and adherence to school and TAPPS expectations.
Communicate clearly, consistently, and proactively with players, families, staff, and school leadership.
Contribute to the mission and visibility of CCA Athletics by developing a program known for character, unity, and competitive excellence.
Ensure full compliance with all Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools regulations and school policies, including eligibility, documentation, reporting, and program oversight.
