About The Position

Sarasota Memorial First Physicians Group is seeking to employ a Physician Assistant to join a rapidly growing Head & Neck Oncology Program. Conveniently located on Sarasota Memorial Hospital - Sarasota, the hired Physician Assistant will join two PAs and two Surgeons. This is a full-time position with a primary focus in the outpatient setting. Responsibilities include comprehensive chart prep for new patient evaluation, seeing pre-ops and post-ops, acting as triage for cancer referrals, and management of survivorship. The role also involves tumor board participation, consultation, outside ED admission coordination, and following up on imaging. There is a requirement for one weekend per month of hospital rounding and floating to the OR for vacation coverage as needed. The Physician Assistant (PA) reflects the mission, vision, and values of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards. The PA III typically works in a multidisciplinary setting including first assist, procedures (chest tube, line placement, etc), multiple inpatient units managing patient care which includes critical care, trauma, and surgery. A PA is a graduate with a master’s degree or certificate from an accredited physician assistant program at an accredited school or college. The PA functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality, cost-effective advanced care to patients. The PA is licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine and the Board of Osteopathic Medicine to perform medical services delegated by the supervising physician(s).

Requirements

  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Bachelor degree from accredited physician assistant training program
  • Licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine and the Board of Osteopathic Medicine to perform medical services delegated by the supervising physician(s)
