HDPE Pipe Fusion Technician
About The Position
Hajoca Corporation, a large, privately-held wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating & cooling, and industrial supplies, is seeking an HDPE Pipe Fusion Technician for its Sandale trade name at the Houston, TX location. The company, founded in 1858, operates on principles of "Service, Integrity, Reliability" and values relationships of trust and support. Hajoca operates in a decentralized environment where each Profit Center (PC) functions like a small business, comprising a warehouse, counter, sales office, and sometimes a showroom. The HDPE Pipe Fusion Technician will be responsible for quality fabrication and production of piping and related materials, using various tools for cutting and preparing pipe, reading diagrams, operating heavy machinery, performing maintenance, ensuring shop safety and cleanliness, and operating a forklift. The role also requires completing safety training and performing other assigned duties.
Requirements
- 1 or more years of warehouse or material handling experience
- Willingness and ability to travel as required
- A strong commitment to safe work practices and operations
- Be able to safely operate a forklift and all other material handling equipment in use at the Profit Center.
- Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used for business operations.
- Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Read, write, speak, and understand English.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in welding and fabrication preferred.
- Relevant HDPE piping, fusion, fabrication, and/or installation experience
- Have, or quickly develop, a comprehensive knowledge of steel pipe, fittings and fire protection related products.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with co-workers, vendors and management.
- Possess strong problem-solving skills and be able to think quickly on your feet to address issues and find practical solutions.
- Possess a strong work ethic and a high standard of integrity.
- Have a comprehensive knowledge of and be able to apply and enforce OSHA and other material handling and facility safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for quality fabrication and production of piping and related material.
- Use angle grinders and other various electric tools for plasma cutting pipe and steel plates and preparing weld fittings.
- Accurately read cut/fabrication sheet diagrams and measure and mark pipes.
- Safely operate heavy machines such as a Landis threader.
- Maintain proper maintenance on all heavy-duty equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization and safety in the fabrication shop.
- Safely load and unload piping material via forklift.
- Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
- Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
