About The Position

Colony Tire located in Summerville, SC is currently seeking a full-time HD Mechanic to join our team! Our mechanics work for competitive, unlimited pay. Previous experience required. Mechanic must be able to diagnose and repair simple and complex automotive issues, and perform routine maintenance on passenger vehicles, as well as heavy equipment. Must hold a valid CDL driver’s license. Employee will be required to perform tire and auto-related service as well as other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • Previous experience required.
  • Mechanic must be able to diagnose and repair simple and complex automotive issues, and perform routine maintenance on passenger vehicles, as well as heavy equipment.
  • Must hold a valid CDL driver’s license.
  • Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to control operations of equipment or systems.
  • Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
  • Ability to recognize and use a variety of tools, including but not limited to power tools, such as pneumatic wrenches, machine tools, such as lathes and grinning machines, jack sand hoists, and common hand tools.
  • Ability to run, maneuver, navigate, or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, or passenger vehicles.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials.
  • Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Ability to detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness.
  • Job requires close attention to detail and thorough in completing assigned tasks.

  • Specific visions abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • High school or equivalency, and/or related experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established procedures to inspect tires, wheels and vehicles before and after service.
  • Execute precision alignment tasks for heavy-duty equipment and powertrain systems, including but not limited to wheel alignment, axle alignment, and drivetrain adjustments.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify alignment issues and potential mechanical problems, conducting thorough inspections and analyses.
  • Calibrate and adjust alignment systems according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance on alignment equipment, ensuring tools and machines are in proper working condition.
  • Maintain detailed records of alignment procedures, diagnostic results, and maintenance activities for compliance and reference.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to explain alignment issues, recommend repairs, and solutions, ensuring a clear understanding of the work performed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment and mitigate risks associated with alignment tasks.
