About The Position

Youth Haven Services is expanding its Day Treatment (DTX) program and is seeking dedicated Paraprofessionals to join their team. This role involves providing direct care and skill-building services to youth and families, aiming to help clients achieve stability and success in their homes and communities. The Paraprofessional will work under the supervision of a Qualified Professional (QP) and provide services according to YHS policies and state guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/equivalent
  • 0-1 years of related experience
  • Professional Certification (1-3 years preferred)
  • High School diploma - paraprofessional or AP-Bachelor’s Degree in the Human services
  • Preferably some experience with population served.
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Competencies in the use of a personal computer (word processing/excel), e-notes, photocopier, and fax machine
  • Organizational abilities
  • Prioritization skills
  • Flexibility
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to develop productive relationships
  • Ability to produce in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to develop responsible decisions and exercise sound judgment.

  • Technical School / 2 Years College / Associate’s Degree (5-8 years preferred)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (X AP, 8-10 years preferred)
  • Master’s Degree (10+ years preferred)
  • Advanced Licensure

Responsibilities

  • Be present in the school with clients during school hours.
  • Review client information and person-centered plans to understand needs, limitations, strengths, and goals of individuals served.
  • Actively participate in the progress of the Person-Centered Plan.
  • Follow the Person-Centered Plan to aid in the development of leisure time, interests, and activities; therapeutic mentoring and behavior and anger management skills training.
  • Become familiar with IEP (individual education plan) and academic goals to assist students with individual needs.
  • Provide delivery of skill-building activities such as daily and community living skills, socialization, adaptation, symptom monitoring, and management skills.
  • Complete documentation on client progress as outlined by program guidelines on a timely basis.
  • Consistently follow the conduct policies and daily operating procedures of the assigned school.
  • Manage behaviors and maintain discipline in accordance with program procedures.
  • Provide NCI compliant restraint as a last resort if a client is a danger to others or self and least restrictive interventions have been exhausted.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/required.
