About The Position

R+L Carriers has an immediate opportunity for Hazmat Technicians at our Lakeland, FL Service Center. Reporting to the Hazardous Materials Compliance Manager, the Hazmat Technician is responsible for the performance of tasks associated with emergency response, hazardous and non-hazardous materials clean-up, site-remediation, equipment decontamination, handling of hazardous materials, and other duties as required.

Requirements

24 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification required (40 Hour preferred)
Physically fit; able to lift 75 lbs.
Able to thrive in a high pressure and fast paced team supported environment
Experience operating tools applicable to emergency response activities
Competent in Microsoft Office applications such as, but not limited to; Excel, Word, and Outlook
Exceptional interpersonal skills, customer service and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to work in a confidential capacity
Ability to handle multiple tasks, while being detail oriented.

Responsibilities

Perform tasks associated with emergency response
Perform hazardous and non-hazardous materials clean-up
Perform site-remediation
Perform equipment decontamination
Handle hazardous materials
Wear proper personal protective equipment when required
Work effectively and communicate with team members and other departments
Inform management team of issues that arise on jobs in a timely manner
Update job notes daily
Lead safety in all aspects of emergency response, including following R+L procedures, properly containerizing waste/re-use products, completing safety documentation, and upholding R+L’s high level of safety
Operate tools applicable to emergency response activities
Set up and participate in live training events to ensure competency of personnel
Audit incoming/outgoing hazardous materials shipments for compliance
Coach co-workers on unsafe behaviors observed
Participate in specialized scheduled projects as required
