About The Position

The HazMat Field Driver/Technician transports hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams to designated generator sites using Class A vehicles. The role operates tractor-trailers with a variety of trailer types, including roll-offs, tankers, and van trailers, to collect bulk and containerized waste. Driving a straight truck may also be required periodically. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with variable scheduling that may include three to four overnight shifts per week depending on customer locations, routes, and delivery requirements. Most weekends and holidays are off, with occasional exceptions for critical business needs.

The position involves safe vehicle operation, waste pickups, transportation documentation, compliance with applicable transportation requirements, vehicle inspections, customer communication, and participation in site safety and training programs. The employee may also serve as a technician on lab pack and field service projects and assist with facility and grounds housekeeping.

Requirements

• Valid Class A commercial driver's license.
• Hazardous materials and tanker endorsements, or ability to obtain the endorsements within 90 days of hire.
• Motor vehicle record that meets Company policy standards.
• Ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER Training upon hire.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading materials.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Ability to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate vehicles that may include roll-offs, tankers, gravel trains, tractor-trailers, and box trucks.
• Perform less-than-load (LTL) pickups.
• Maintain driver documents, including logbooks, quarterly permit books, trip reports, and waste manifests.
• Apply DOT requirements for hazardous waste collection, packaging, and transportation, including placarding, load securement, HAZMAT load segregation, and labeling.
• Understand and follow state weight-limit laws.
• Operate vehicles safely and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Use company technology, including mobile applications and software, as assigned by leaders.
• Perform DOT/MOT pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Communicate and interact effectively with customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Help maintain good housekeeping at the facility and on the grounds.
• May function as a technician on lab pack and field service projects.
• Participate in the Site Safety program and required training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
