The City of Folsom's Utilities Department is currently recruiting for a HazMat Coordinator to join the Waste & Recycling Division. This position is Monday - Friday, and works both in the field and in-office. This position is non-exempt and represented by Local 39 IUOE. The ideal candidate is community-focused with a passion for protecting the environment through the proper disposal of hazardous waste. They have experience with hazardous materials management and environmental compliance, including municipal, state and federal regulatory compliance and can apply this knowledge to all areas of the operation, including public education, collection, packaging, and transportation of hazardous waste, and emergency spill response. The ideal candidate is also committed to safety and can effectively lead and motivate a team while working in a physically demanding environment. Under the general direction of the General Services Manager, the HazMat Coordinator performs specialized field and administrative work for the Waste and Recycling Division of the Utilities Department; develops, implements, coordinates and participates in residential and commercial hazardous materials (hazmat) collection and disposal programs and responds to and coordinates cleanup of hazmat incidents resulting from Division operations.
