About The Position

This role involves providing environmental compliance and hazardous waste handling services in accordance with Air Force Instruction, local HW Management Plan, and federal and state regulations. Key duties include the pick-up, delivery, and transportation of Heavy Hazardous Waste Drums, operating equipment such as forklifts and pumps, conducting inspections and sampling of waste, and performing inventories and audits. The position requires the ability to obtain necessary credentials, a high school diploma, effective communication skills, and the ability to pass medical and fit tests. Physical requirements include lifting up to 75 lbs and standing for extended periods, as well as wearing required PPE. Basic knowledge of hazardous materials and SDS is necessary, along with computer skills and the ability to obtain a commercial driver's license with an H class endorsement.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and other credentials, as required.
  • High School Diploma required
  • The ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and clients.
  • Must pass a medical fitness exam and respirator fit test.
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects weighing up to 75 lbs. and stand for up to 2 hours at a time.
  • Ability to don and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Basic understanding of hazardous materials and SDS (Safety Data Sheets).
  • Must have or be able to obtain a commercial driver’s license w/ H class endorsement.
  • Computer skills, to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift experience desirable; must pass forklift operator skills evaluation
  • Experience with Enterprise Environmental Safety and Occupational Health Management Information System – Hazardous Waste Module (EESOH-MIS HW)
  • Experience in management and handling of hazardous waste
  • Knowledge of RCRA, OSHA, and DOT regulations
  • Ability to analyze and interpret basic chemical analysis results and QC
  • 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certificate
  • Experience working at military installations and industrial operations
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) w/ H class endorsement

Responsibilities

  • Provide environmental compliance and hazardous waste handling services as directed IAW Air Force Instruction, local HW Management Plan, and federal and state regulations
  • Pick-up, delivery, and transportation of Heavy Hazardous Waste Drums to/from designated sites in all weather conditions
  • Use a drum dolly to move containerized waste
  • Operate a forklift, gasoline powered pump, pressure washer, and flatbed pickup
  • Conduct both visual and documented inspections of all containers at Waste Facility
  • Take samples of waste for chemical analysis
  • Conduct inventories and audits
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
