About The Position

DARK is Fort Edmonton Park’s premier, large-scale Halloween festival, delivering an immersive experience through intense haunts, scare zones, roving performers, and high-energy entertainment. In the pivotal role of Haunt Monitor, you serve as an essential frontline ambassador, tasked with sustaining the event’s atmosphere while prioritizing the safety and well-being of both guests and performers. Positioned within dark, immersive attractions, you will help guide the flow of event attendees, monitor crowd behavior, and ensure respect for our historic facilities and creative props. You will also act as a vital line of defense for our scare actors, actively looking out for their safety and health throughout the night. Working closely with Scare Leads and event staff, you will help deliver an unforgettable, adrenaline-pumping experience in a fast-paced autumn festival environment.

Requirements

  • Completion of a High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience providing customer service at a live entertainment venue or in a related setting
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with a proven ability to resolve conflict respectfully
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and sound judgment in high-energy or high-conflict situations
  • Working knowledge or understanding of de-escalation and conflict management techniques
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to relay operational instructions effectively
  • A strong team-oriented mentality with a commitment to maintaining a positive and supportive workplace culture

  • Previous experience in security services, event operations, or crowd management

Responsibilities

  • Enforce attraction guidelines and ensure guests interact respectfully with scare actors, props, and historic buildings
  • Encourage continuous guest movement and manage operational traffic pinch-points using provided safety tools
  • Monitor the health, safety, and well-being of scare actors, stepping in or alerting supervisors if someone is unwell or in distress
  • Deliver polite, patient, and professional customer service within a dynamic festival environment
  • Apply de-escalation techniques when handling disruptive behavior or alcohol/substance policy violations, escalating to security when necessary
  • Provide wayfinding and clear communication during emergency situations or guest redirections
  • Promptly report any incidents, injuries, or site hazards to the Scare Lead
