About The Position

Cobalt Construction Inc. is a leading Yukon-based earthworks and civil construction contractor specializing in large-scale mining, road construction, site development, and heavy civil infrastructure projects. We are seeking experienced and safety-focused Haul Truck Drivers to operate large-capacity rock trucks in support of major road construction and earthworks projects throughout the Yukon. This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging northern projects while operating some of the largest haulage equipment in the industry. The Haul Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of 700-ton haul trucks and other heavy equipment used in road construction, mining, and earthworks operations. The successful candidate will work closely with supervisors, equipment operators, and site personnel to ensure production targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of safety and equipment care.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating large haul trucks in mining, road construction, quarry, or earthworks environments
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License (Class 1 or 3 considered an asset)
  • Ability to work in remote camp environments and on rotational schedules
  • Physically capable of climbing, accessing, and inspecting large equipment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to workplace safety and environmental stewardship
  • Mine site experience
  • Experience working in northern or remote locations
  • Ground disturbance, CSTS, WHMIS, or Common Safety Orientation certifications
  • First Aid certification

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating rigid-frame haul trucks considered a strong asset
  • Experience operating additional heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, graders, loaders, or articulated rock trucks

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate 700-ton rock trucks in accordance with company policies, site procedures, and manufacturer specifications
  • Haul rock, overburden, aggregate, and other construction materials throughout the project site
  • Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and daily equipment inspections
  • Complete daily equipment logs, inspection reports, and production records
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and other operators via radio
  • Follow designated haul routes, traffic management plans, and site speed limits
  • Identify and report equipment defects, hazards, incidents, or near misses
  • Maintain awareness of changing weather, road, and site conditions
  • Assist with fueling, servicing, and basic maintenance activities as required
  • Support project productivity goals while operating equipment safely and efficiently
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, FLRAs, and toolbox talks
  • Adhere to all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements
