About The Position

This position is responsible for the wellbeing of the chicks in the hatchers to make sure they are comfortable at all times during the shift, checking seals inside setters. Others duties may be assigned. The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. This position is responsible for maintaining product flow and relieving team members on line for breaks and filling in during labor shortages while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months.
  • If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Applicants must reside within the United States to be considered for an interview.
  • Qualified applicants must have at least one year of work experience with one employer over the past three years with no gaps in employment of over six months. (Exceptions are made for layoffs, attending school, or birth of a child.)
  • Must have good communication skills to accurately convey opinions and concerns.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assessing chicks comfort level by analyzing vent temperatures and normal traits of chicks every hour and a half until chicks are pulled.
  • Must be able to enter information into an Excel Spreadsheet.
  • Must be able to read and record setters and hatcher rooms temperatures.
  • Assisting maintenance to insure trays are turning correctly on the setter buggies.
  • Dumping cull eggs, pulling empty farm and setter buggies to the Egg Room.
  • Sort chicks to remove cull birds in accordance to Animal Welfare standards.
  • Euthanize weak/ill chicks in accordance with company policy.
  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
