About The Position

This position is responsible for entry level non-skilled general labor hatchery tasks while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours.
  • Must be willing to work most holidays.
  • Must be willing to stand/walk on concrete floors 4 to 5 days per week, 8 to 10 hours per day.
  • Must be willing to work 6 days per week if needed.
  • Must be willing to climb ladders/stairs.
  • Must be willing to work in extreme hot/cold environments.
  • Must be willing and able to tolerate chick down and the smell of rotten eggs.
  • Must be willing to work with cleaning chemicals.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild, or exotic fowl.
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, etc).
  • An Animal Welfare background check will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various hatchery tasks while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
  • Learn safe, efficient operation of hatchery machinery.
  • Fix minor issues with hatchery machinery.
  • Clean hatchery machinery.
  • Load/remove baskets and trays weighing 10 lbs. to 15 lbs. from machines.
  • Bend and lift a minimum of 30 lbs. from 6” high to 5’6” high repetitively.
  • Push/pull buggies of eggs weighing up to 500 lbs.
  • Cull non-viable chicks from viable chicks.
  • Rotate jobs.
  • Follow all Hatchery Safety rules/regulations.
  • Follow all Animal Welfare Guidelines.
  • Wear appropriate PPE as required.
